With a rising global population and ever-increasing demands on agriculture sector and food systems, a transition towards more sustainable, resilient practices and investments in food systems are critical for people, climate and nature. A substantial funding gap of up to $350 billion per year by 2030 exists for transforming food systems to achieve climate mitigation and adaptation targets, as well as to meet other Sustainable Development Goals.
If we are to meet our climate and nature goals, we need to address this gap by mobilising finance from all sources. This event, delivered by the UK Government in partnership with FOLU, the World Resources Institute, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Good Food Finance Network, will highlight and facilitate the integration of public-private finance into sustainable food systems. There will be presentations followed by breakout sessions to discuss opportunities for cross-sector partnerships across two UNFCCC climate champion priority themes: regenerative landscapes and blue food.
The event will showcase examples of successful public-private partnerships and connect policy makers who have project opportunities with financial institutions and private sector partners with investment potential and expertise. Attendees will include NGOs, private sector investors, country officials and policymakers.
