The Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-Use, and Bio-Energy (FABLE) Consortium is a collaborative initiative created in 2017. FABLE is a global network of researchers who develop national pathways that are consistent with global sustainability objectives, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement targets.

The Food, Environment, Land and Development (FELD) Action Tracker is a strategic initiative under the Food and Land Use (FOLU) Coalition, led by the UN Sustainable Solutions Network (SDSN). The Action Tracker is complementing other initiatives by the Coalition, dedicated to providing practical support to countries’ transformation of food and land use systems: It does so by systematically analyzing national policies; by tracking the resulting implementation and other related actions; by identifying good practices to be shared on a dedicated platform; and by assessing specific impact and overall progress against national and global strategies and targets under the Paris Climate Agreement and the SDGs.
The FELD programme and its methodologies are designed to support countries and their partners in devising, implementing and improving effective and ambitious policies for transforming their food and land-use systems and practices.

Effective collective action involves a common vision. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – and the future of the planet and its people – depend on well-functioning food systems everywhere. They should be sustainable, produce foodstuffs that are affordable, safe and nourish people. Food Systems Dialogues (FSDs) convene events in cities across the world to connect actors and share experiences to support food system transformation. They encourage dialogue about food systems policies and economics, science-based targets and pathways, the potential of innovation and the urgent need for all stakeholders to be part of the conversation.

The Food System Economics Commission, convened by EAT, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and FOLU, is an independent, interdisciplinary academic commission that delivers a state-of-the-art scientific assessment on Food, People, Planet: the economics of the transition to healthy, inclusive and sustainable food systems. Building on the vanguard of integrated assessment modelling and evidence-based policy design, the Commission’s analysis links the inclusion, health and environmental dimensions of the economics of food systems. The Commission’s overarching objective is to further the transition to healthy, inclusive and sustainable food systems by providing a comprehensive assessment of the economics of current food systems, their unaccounted costs (defined as environmental, dietary health and social costs) and the distributional impacts of the transition; and by rigorously assessing evidence and providing new tools to support policy design.

Feeding nine billion people by 2030 while protecting the vital natural systems which sustain life will be one of the defining challenges of our generation. It will require a transformation in the way in which we use land, produce food and protect nature. Launched at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019, A Just Rural Transition (JRT) brings together governments, companies, civil society, farmers groups and indigenous people to support a growing global ‘community of purpose’.

Nature is a key climate solution. Nature4Climate (N4C) is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) UN-REDD, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Conservation International (CI), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Woods Hole Research Center, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), World Resources Institute (WRI), We Mean Business (WMB) and WWF that aims to increase investment and action on natural climate solutions in support of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. Partners work together to catalyze partnerships between governments, civil society, business and investors that use nature-based solutions to climate change.

Regen10 is an ambitious collective action plan to scale regenerative food production systems, worldwide, in a decade.
The initiative will put farmers at the heart of a global effort to transform agricultural systems, so that by 2030, over 50% of the world’s food can be produced in a way that drives positive outcomes for people, for nature, and for climate.
Regen10 will drive alignment and convergence of existing food and farming sector initiatives, and scale-up collective action, by bringing together farmers, along with businesses, investors, NGOs, and policymakers to accelerate system change. Through its interventions, Regen10 will play a key role in strengthening the agriculture and food systems’ contributions to the Paris Agreement, while halting and reversing nature loss, building resilience, and enabling farmers to earn decent incomes for the vital role they play as stewards of the land.
